ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gail Doby was a Finance & Banking degree when she first graduated. Soon after that, she enter the interior design industry in 1977 as marketing for the flooring material and furnishing. She found her passion in interior design and went for her interior design degree. Then, she finished it in 1994 and directly become full-time designer for herself. By 1996, she has made herself a magazine cover for the first time. Many things happen during that time until 2008 when she started a company with Erin Weir, her partner for life. Design Success University (DSU) and Gail Doby Coacing & Consulting are the starting point of what she has been achieving until now. Today, she speak Interior Design Society, ASID, International Window Coverings Exposition (IWCE), etc.
REVIEW
This book is suitable for the Interior Design professional who has done their business but felt not making much and also it is good for someone who really worried on their job related to client, time, employee, stress of much paperwork, someone who work harder but keep failing, and person who want to start for their own business practice for the first time (it's really good to read this as you will be more prepared of what will happen when you managed it).
In this book, Gail also makes us sure to understand ourselves in term of knowing our strength, find out why we were struggling & hard to success, and give us motivation to change. She has some case study of the problem and exact experience story as what the professional will be encounter.
And finally, in the last part, she explained about what is RIGHT BUSINESS MODEL which are the key & essential ingredient to run interior design company. It is very core as when you "have" it, everything will seem easier & things will fall into place from client, employee, money and passion will be good to you.
If you feel that you have a business background / learn business like Gail herself, it doesn't mean that you will be apply it correctly as she has experienced it also. She shared her story about why she can fail on it and she will guide you how to get through it.
