Exhibition Review : Maison & Objet Asia

During the Singapore Design Week, there are a lot of exhibition and fair happened in Singapore. One of them is Maison & Objet Asia which is a raved among the architects, interior designers, developers, hoteliers, and restaurateurs. It was their 3rd times return since 2012 at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Luckily, I was able to get the complimentary entry as I register before 7 March unless you need to pay about S$65 (but it's really worth to pay for).

There are approximately 300 brands featuring their customized design showcased at Maison & Objet 2016. It also featured some special installation that gives uniqueness & add interest to explore more throughout the exhibition.

A concept cafe set up by Sempre. It is a Belgian based concept designer that uses natural & reclaimed materials for their handmade product. It absolutely impress me a lot seeing this cafe which consist of all Sempre product from lighting, table, bench, and of course the greenery make it looks very cozy, it makes me want to stay longer to appreciate. Maiori is a brand that established since 1989 in Hong Kong. Most of their product is used for the outdoor garden. I find this booth is interesting as they looks minimalist and really resemble their branding image. Furthermore, their furniture is sustainable yet so innovative as their philosophy is "to blend traditional craft-work and forward-thinking engineering to create quality products that are free from complexity yet considered in details". No wonder every details is perfectly done and giving the sense of openness.

An installation entitled 'Framed by Terre'. Terre is a multidisciplinary design office that provides conceptualization and design consultancy work for furniture, interior and architecture. The installation was beautifully covered by the white flowers, it also very eye-catchy from the first time it was seen from afar. This frame is actually used for some consultation / chitchat space with the 'owner'. Furthermore, this installation gave image of how this company do their design well in creating a harmonious & cozy space.

In my opinion, to engage earlier ( I mean earlier is younger age like student) with this kind of exhibition is good as it will broader your knowledge in many kind of material, design, installation, business, communication, and interaction. Since I have done the internship process before, I know that when we are working, communication and keep in contact with the supplier like this is the most important things. We also need these knowledge to find the best solution for furniture, material & finishes to increase our quality of design like the ability to apply different things & uniqueness yet to keep our client satisfaction. I certainly don't mind to come over again for next year Maison & Objet exhibition.

Here are some another interesting collections of furniture & accessories that I found on the exhibition :
